Cookie policy
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. We also use localStorage, which works the same way but never transmits data to a server.
2. What we use
| Name / key | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| rentcheckus-ck (localStorage) | Essential | Remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, so the banner does not reappear on every page | Until you clear it |
| __cf_bm, cf_clearance (Cloudflare) | Essential | Bot protection and security filtering on the network that serves this site | Up to 30 minutes / session |
| Affiliate partner cookies (e.g. Amazon) | Third party | Set on the partner's own domain when you click an affiliate link, so a qualifying purchase is attributed to us. We do not control them and they never affect your price. | Set by the partner |
3. Your choice
The banner at the bottom of the page lets you accept all cookies or continue with essential cookies only. You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data in your browser — the banner will then ask again and you can accept or decline afresh.
Analytics cookies
We do not load third-party analytics on {d}. If we ever add privacy-friendly analytics, they will load only after you accept them — and this page will be updated first.
4. How to delete or block cookies
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies / Delete browsing data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Blocking everything will not stop our tools working — they run entirely in your browser.
5. Legal background
We follow the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, which require consent before non-essential cookies are set and clear information about what is stored.
